Ajla Dizdarević’s debut poetry collection,What I Learned About Dogs in the Village, will release in February 2027 with Carnegie Mellon University Press. What I Learned About Dogs in the Village was a finalist for the 2025 Michael Waters Poetry Prize, the 2025 Hollis Summers Poetry Prize, and the 2026 Brittingham and Felix Pollak Prizes in Poetry.

Additionally, Dizdarević was a recipient of the 2018-2019 Bicultural Iowa Writers' Fellowship, Iowa's first fully funded residency for emerging writers identifying as immigrants or their immediate descendants. As a fellow, Dizdarević’s work was published in volume two of We the Interwoven: An Anthology of Bicultural Iowa.
